EXTERNAL CASE USER'S MANUAL

Model: CD-R3-U2FW (USB & IEEE1394)

A. Hardware Installation Guide

1. Items to be installed:

A. body case
B. front cover
C. back cover
D. plastic panel
E. short screws x 4
F. long screws x 4

2. Insert the device (CD-ROM / DVD/ CD-RW/ HD¡K.) into the body case

3. Connect the IDE and power cables attached on the back cover to the device

4. Insert the back cover into the case

5. Screw the back cover firmly to the case (short screws - E)

6. Push the device to the right place for screwing (long screws - F)

7. (This step is only for installing Hard Drive)

(1) Insert the plastic panel into the front cover from inside;each tenon of the panel has to be

placed on the correspondent track of the front cover.

(2)Push the panel in until it's firmly jointed

8. Bracket installation (This step is only for installing Hard Drive)

(1) Bracket and screws

(2) Screw both the brackets to the hard drive

(3) Insert the hard drive into the body case

(4) Insert the hard drive until position A match position B

(5) Fix hard drive on the case by screws

9. Insert the front cover into the case

10.Screw the front cover firmly to the case (short screws - E)

11. Connect the FireWire or USB and power cables to the correct ports back on the cover

(we connect both FireWire and USB cables to the case as a sample, you'll need only one of them)

12. Complete

B. Driver Installation Guide (FOR PC)

• No Driver is needed in Windows ME / Windows 2000 / Windows XP operating system.

• For Windows98

(Make sure the external device is disconnected before the installation)

1. Please insert the driver CD into CD-ROM

2-1 Windows will automatically run the installation wizard, select "5.25"External Enclosure / Manual",
then "CD-R3-U2FW (Driver for Win98)" on the menu

2-2 The driver will be installed automatically

Or you can double click the installation file "WIN98.EXE" in the following directory:

CD-ROM\ External \ RX-U2FW \ WIN98.EXE

After restarting your computer, please connect the CD-R3-U2FW external enclosure to your computer by the attached USB cable. In few seconds the new external CD-ROM drive will display in "my computer" window.

IEEE1394

Auto detection, no driver installation is needed.

C. Driver Installation Guide (FOR MAC)

USB

Support only Mac OS 9.X and above version (PnP), no driver installation is needed.

IEEE1394

OS 9.X and above: No driver installation is needed.
