A. Hardware Installation Guide

1. Items to be installed:

A. body case
B. hard drive
C. back cover with pc board
D. screws

2. Install the hard drive to the IDE slot on the pc board
(printed side of the hard drive faces up; please refer to the picture shown below)

3.Insert the HD along with pc board into the body case

4.Screw the back cover firmly to the body case

5. Connect USB / IEEE1394 and power cable to the external case
(we connect both FireWire and USB cables to the case as a sample,
you'll need only one of them)

(1) When useing USB interface, you only need to plug USB cable to the
enclosure (don't need to plug the power cable); and Connect both USB
plugs to the computer to obtain enough power

(2) When using Firewire interface, please plug both IEEE 1394 and power
cable

B. Driver Installation Guide (FOR PC)

USB

• No Driver is needed in Windows ME / Windows 2000 / Windows XP operating system.

• For Windows98

(Make sure the external device is disconnected before the installation)

1. Please insert the driver CD into CD-ROM

2-1 Windows will automatically run the installation wizard, select "2.5"External Enclosure / Manual", then "HD-D4-U2FW (Driver for Win98)" on the menu

2-2 The driver will be installed automatically

Or you can double click the installation file "WIN98.exe" in the following directory: CD-ROM \ External \ DX-U2FW \ WIN98.exe

After restarting your computer, please connect the HD-D4-U2FW external enclosure to your computer by the attached USB cable. In few seconds the new external CD-ROM drive will display in "my computer" window.

Auto detection, no driver installation is needed.

C. Driver Installation Guide (FOR MAC)

Support only Mac OS 9.X and above version (PnP), no driver installation is needed.
