EXTERNAL CASE USER'S MANUAL

Model:HD-D5-U2FW (USB & IEEE1394)

 

A. Hardware Installation Guide


1. Items to be installed :

A.     Case body

B.     Hard Drive

C.     Bracket for hard drive

D.    stand

E.      back cover with IDE / power cables

F.      short screws

G. long screws

 

 

  2. Connect the IDE and power cables attached on the back cover to the Hard Drive

 

 

 

 3.Screw the hard drive firmly to the bracket ( screws F)

 

 

 Please align the bracket and the front side of hard drive before screwing
as the picture shown below

 

4.Screw the pc board along with back cover to the bracket

 

 

 

 5.Slide in the whole hard drive along with bracket (the printed side of
body case faces up)

 

 

 6.Screw the back cover firmly to the body case (screws G)

 

 

 7. (Optional) Prepare to install the stand; please notice that the side with fillister on the stand will slide in the body case first

Slide in the stand until the fillister fits the tenon on the body case

 

8.Connect FireWire / USB and power cables to the correct ports back on the
cover (we connect both FireWire and USB cables to the case as a sample, you'll need only one of them)

 

9. Complete

 

B. Driver Installation Guide (FOR PC)

USB

(Make sure the external device is disconnected before the installation)

 

1. Please insert the driver CD into CD-ROM

2-1 Windows will automatically run the installation wizard, select "3.5"External Enclosure / Manual",
then "HD-D5-U2FW (Driver for Win98)" on the menu

2-2 The driver will be installed automatically

 

Or you can double click the installation file "WIN98.exe" in the following directory:

CD-ROM \ External \ DX-U2FW \ WIN98.exe

After restarting your computer, please connect the HD-D5-U2FW external case to your computer by the attached USB cable. In few seconds the new external CD-ROM drive will display in "my computer" window.

Auto detection, no driver installation is needed.

 

C. Driver Installation Guide (FOR MAC)

USB

Support only Mac OS 9.X and above version (PnP), no driver installation is needed.
